What We Believe
The Bible
We believe God’s Word (The Bible) is the basis for our faith. All 66 books contain the verbally inspired word of God. It is without error, it is the authoritative standard for living and is God’s complete and final revelation.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; John 17:17; Revelation 22:18-19
The Godhead
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ
We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth and that Christ is the only mediator between God and Man.
Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7; Matthew 1:18-25, John 1:1-3; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:2-9; 1 John 5:20
We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and his death satisfied the righteous wrath of God against sin and provided redemption and forgiveness for all who believe. We believe Jesus, after death, was raised from the dead on the third day, and then ascended into heaven where he is seated at Gods’ right hand as our Advocate, High Priest, and head of the church. We believe Jesus is coming again personally, bodily, and visibly to his earth to set up his millennial kingdom.
Isaiah 53:5-6; Luke 24:36-43; John 3:16; Romans 3:21-26; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8,20-23; Colossians 1:13-14; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Revelation 20:6
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17, 26; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Ephesians 5:18-21
Mankind
We believe people are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. That image has been marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. Sin separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2
Salvation
We believe that Salvation of man comes by the free gift of God’s grace and is based solely upon man’s personal faith and belief in Jesus Christ. It isn’t received by, nor based on, any sacrament, merit, or good work on our part. Anyone who receives God’s gift of salvation is eternally secure.
John 1:11-13, 3:16, 5:24, 10:28-30; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:23-26, 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19, 1 John 5:11-13
Heaven & Hell
We believe man was created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9
Satan
We believe that Satan is the enemy of both God and men and that his aim is to destroy God’s chief creation. Jesus resisted the devil while on earth and ultimately destroyed the devil’s power through His death and resurrection. By submitting to God and standing firm in faith in Christ, believers are also able to resist the devil.
1 Peter 5:8; 1 John 3:8; Revelation 20:10; James 4:7
Christian Responsibility
We believe the goal of every Christian is to become a disciple of Christ by growing toward spiritual maturity through the knowledge of and obedience to the Word of God and submission to the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 3:18; Hebrews 6:1
The Church
We believe in governing ourselves by God’s leadership model. Christ is the Head of the church (Colossians 1:18). The Pastor is the under shepherd commissioned by God to lead and feed the flock (Jeremiah 3:15; 23:4; 1 Peter 5:1-2). The Bible directs us to submit to those appointed over us (Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 5:5).
Marriage
We believe that God created marriage as a sacred covenant relationship between one man and one woman for the purpose of procreation, companionship, and dominion over creation. Therefore, we adhere to the biblical definition and standard for marriage over and above any other legal definitions or court actions.
Genesis 2:15-24; Romans 1:16-32
